This is the very 1st hackathon I've joined happened on March 21, 2015. And for that reason, we really don't have an idea how hackathon works. This is only an 8 hours hackathon with a challenge to create an application related to women in celebration of the 2015 international women's day.
This is a mini hackathon happened at Microsoft Makati. The challenge is just to create a game using unity3D or if you already have a game you can improve and submit it.
This is the very 1st hackathon of AMA Computer College Fairview organized by Computer Science Students Society, Honor Students Sociey and Microsoft Computer Society. 54 teams are competing in this one day hackathon happened on April 2015. The challenge is open to groups with 3-4 members and they need to create a solution for one of the three challenges:

2. Create an application that will help both students and teachers.
3. Create an application that will make the system of AMA faster.
This is a unity3D game hackathon happened on June 2015 at VIBAL. Each team has different kind of challenge. The company who conducts this hackathon already have the sprites so our main focus here is the programming and completing the challenge. 13 teams compete and each challenge you finish comes a reward of 4000pesos. This is the best hackathon I've joined because the foods are unlimited and you can grab food at the kitchen whenever you want, you can even bring home a food. And there is also a consolation prize for the teams who didn't win.
This is a 2-day hackathon organized by UP Center for Student Innovations happened on September 2015 at the University of the Philippines Diliman. The challenge selection is on-the-spot so all of the participants are in equal situtation. What I like about this hackathon is the randomly chosen challenge. It is about the culture, we need to create an innovative application that helps the culture of the philippines.
This is a 2-day hackathon happened on November 2015 at De La Salle University. There are 2 kinds of applications you can create, the Utility and the Commercial Apps. The Utility apps are targeted for researchers, scientists, people in the government while the Commercial apps allow non-experts understand what is happening around them by presenting data (usual targets being the average users). The main goal is to create an innovation or innovative application in either of the two and they also need to integrate atleast one database at the open data philippines(data.gov.ph).
